Design & Technology
In Design and Technology students gain knowledge and experience using wood, metal & plastic materials with tools, machinery and ICT to design and make products.
Key Stage 3
Students in Yr 7 have an introduction to Health & Safety, then go on to make an Acrylic Photoframe and a Softwood boat. In Yr 8, students are introduced to electronics and create a Jitterbug. Through learning about mechanisms, they move on to designing and making a softwood Mechanical Toy. In Yr 9 students are introduced to Graphics and learn Computer Aided Design using the Techsoft 2D Design software. Yr 9 then move onto creating an electronic light sensitive Nightlight, a project that combines woodwork with the use of plastics, plastic forming and electronics.
