Component 1: Understanding drama - written (40%)
We will study the set text ‘Blood Brothers’ and explore the play practically. You will sit an exam where a question might be ‘How would you act this extract as Mrs Johnstone’. Although it is a written exam we have to spend a lot of time acting out this very funny play. You will also be asked questions on a live show that we will see and you will evaluate the acting, lighting, sound and costume
Component 2: Devising drama – practical and written (40%)
You will create your own piece of theatre. This is really exciting and allows you to be original and creative. You will be given 12 weeks to create your own performance. You can be assessed as an actor, or you can be assessed as a lighting/sound/costume designer.
Component 3: Texts in practice - practical (20%)
You will be given an extract of a play, decided by your teacher, and you will perform this in front of an examiner. You will be marked on your theatre skills as well as your interpretation of the script. You can be assessed as an actor, or you can be assessed as a lighting/sound/costume designer.
Year 10 –Blood Brothers (1st November 2018)
Essential for students to understand plot, themes and characters.
Year 11 – Live Theatre (Date TBC)
Students must see a piece of theatre in year 11 to answer live theatre review.
