• Theme 1 – Identity and Culture

Assessment components:

The course is assessed by;

A listening paper - 50 marks (25%). This paper contains two sections;

• Section A (questions in English to be answered in Englsih or non-verbally – 40 marks)
• Section B (questions in French to be answered in French or non-verbally – 10 marks)

A speaking paper – 60 marks (25%). This paper contains three parts;

• Role-play – 15 marks
• Photo-card (on 1 theme) – 15 marks
• General conversation (on 2 other themes not covered by the photo card “can be 1 topic or cross” topic within a theme) – 30 marks

A reading paper – 60 marks (25%). This paper contains three sections;

• Section A (questions in English to be answered in English or non-verbally) – 33 marks
• Section B (questions in French to be answered in French or non-verbally) – 18 marks
• Section C (Translation from French into English) – 9 marks

A writing paper – 60 marks (25%). This paper contains 3 questions;

• Q1 – (choice of 2 questions – 90 words in total) – 16 marks
• Q2 – (choice of 2 questions – 150 words in total) - 32 marks
• Q3 – (Translation from English into French) – 12 marks
